Zenato
Lugana
$14.99
Certainly the best and most consistent Trebbiano I
have ever had from Italy! It was my house wine for the last few years and
it still makes a regular appearance on my table. Like Pinot Grigio but with more
stuffing, it is dry, clean and crisp with plenty of stony minerality, ripe
Bartlett pear, and light notes of almond cake.
2004 Zenato
Valpolicella
Classico Superiore
$13.99
85% Corvina, 10% Rondinella, and 5% Sangiovese.
Zenato is a master producer of Valpolicella, aiming for a higher degree of
ripeness and a percent or two of higher finished alcohols to carry the flavors
of the wines. Zenato’s wine have extra punch but the wine retains its
youthful, exuberant fruit flavors of black berries and black currant jam. Finishes
with hints of fruit compote, vanilla bean and baking spice.

2005 Ned & Henry's Shiraz $21.99
92 points Robert Parker
“The fabulous, rich, intense, full-bodied 2005 Shiraz Ned & Henry’s
displays extraordinary purity and nuance. The bacon fat character found in the
2004 has not yet emerged from the 2005. The 2005 appears to possess greater
intensity, richness, and staying power. This wine has the potential to keep for
7-8 years.”
2004
Gran Familia Rioja $12.99
89 points Robert Parker
Gran Familia, a blend of 90% Tempranillo and 10% Granciano, is one of the best
values I tasted for this Spanish report. It is medium to dark ruby in color with
first class aromatics consisting of smoke, cedar and leather. The wine has
remarkable depth of flavor and length for its humble price. This is a super
value in Rioja.

2005 Vina Gormaz Tempranillo $12.99
90 points Robert Parker
Produced from 50+ year old ungrafted Tempranillo vines, is as good a value as
exists from the D.O. of Ribera del Duero. This unoaked wine is dark ruby-colored
with aromas of earth, spice, mineral, plum and black currants. This is followed
by a medium-bodied, ripe wine, with layered flavors, light tannin and good
balance. Drink it over the next 2-3 years. Buy this one by the case!

2005 Rolf Binder "Hovah" Viognier $19.99
90 points Robert Parker
"Better than most New World Viogniers, the 2005 Viognier Hovah exhibits
surprising minerality along with white peach, apricot and litchi nut
characteristics. Crisp, elegant, medium-bodied, flavorful and savory, it can be
drunk over the next 2 years."
2005
Zabrin Ateca
$15.99
90 points Robert Parker AND 90 points Stephen Tanzer
"Bodegas
Zabrin is a new project for importer Jorge Ordonez and the Gil family of Jumilla
(whose value-priced wines have consistently received raves in this publication).
The 2005 Ateca is a 100% Grenache produced from the estate's oldest vineyard
(80-100 years). It boasts pure raspberry liqueur notes interwoven with sweet
cherry, pepper, licorice and spice characteristics. This stunning 2005 can be
enjoyed over the next 2-3 years."
