After playing seven years with the
Indianapolis Colts (1983-89), four years with the Atlanta Falcons
(1990-93), and two years with the Minnesota Vikings (1994-95), Chris
Hinton has moved on from football to tackle the world of wine. After
years of playing and sharing his love of the game with the fans, Hinton
now wants to share his love of wine with others as well. Over the last
several years Chris Hinton has become knowledgeable on the topic of
wine. Whether it be a Chardonnay, Merlot or Cabernet Sauvignon, he has a
knack for pairing that selection with food, your taste preferences, or
helping a person decide on the perfect "wine lovers" gift.
On July 9, 1999, he and his wife, Mya, opened
"Hinton's Wine Store" in Alpharetta, Georgia. The store is designed
to be an upscale wine and spirits store, with an emphasis in fine wines
and great customer service. Not only will you be able to purchase
your favorite wines and spirits, you will also be able to choose from a
selection of gifts associated with wines such as gift baskets for any
occasion, crystal stemware, wine totes, corkscrews, iron wine racks and
much more. |

Two years after opening Hinton's Wine Store, Chris Hinton has once again helped
Atlantans further enjoy their wine experience by introducing BIN 75, Hinton's Wine
Store’s own tasting room. Named for the number Chris wore during his NFL
career, BIN 75 is located adjacent to Hinton's Wine Store and may be accessed just
to the right of the store’s entrance. The attractively appointed room hosts a
variety of events from weekly wine tastings, cooking classes, wine classes and
catered wine dinners. Click here
for a schedule of upcoming events.
The room is also available to rent for private wine related events. In the past
we have helped customers host: rehearsal dinners, wedding showers, business
presentations, private wine classes, neighborhood social gatherings, etc. Stop
in or call Hinton's Wine Store at (770) 641-1900 for more information on planning
your own event. |

Dorothy and John who write the Friday wine articles in the
Wall Street Journal announced that
Saturday, February 25 will be “Open
That Bottle Night”. The Wine Store was the only wine retail store
mentioned in their recent Wall Street
Journal article about “OTBN”.
In keeping with this tradition established by Dorothy and
John, The Wine Store held
its First Annual “Open That Bottle
Night”, in the Bin 75 tasting room. We plan that this will become a
tradition that our customers will enjoy being a part of each year.
The format was for each person/couple to bring a “Distinctive”
bottle of wine they had been holding for some special event in the future. Each wine would be shared with other friends of The Wine
Store. Attendees were encouraged to
share any stories related to the particular bottle of wine which they were
sharing.

Thirty-two attended and enjoyed many interesting wines that
people had been saving for that “special” occasion. Good food was enjoyed and the event was covered by WGCL,
Channel 46, the CBS affiliate on their Saturday night 6:00 and 11:00 p.m. local
news coverage. Chris and several
customers were interviewed.
In keeping with Chris’ commitment to make this 1st
Annual OTBN a high quality evening, Bin 75
provided a variety of quality appetizers and foods so that the wines
brought could be enjoyed with a food that paired
well with the wines. As a special
treat, Chris poured an 8-year Vertical Tasting of Dominus Estate.
Vintages were 1983 through 1990. This well-respected winery is located in
the Napa Valley of California.
Dominus
Estate is the proprietary red wine produced in the heart of Napa Valley by
Bordeaux producer Christian Moueix and his team. Dominus has become known since its first release for its
complexity and earthy character. Christian
Moueix truly believes that producing a wine begins in the vineyard.
For that reason, each vintage is unique with different varietal blends
reflecting the vineyard and climate conditions of that particular year.
